Find Chinese Friends

and know a rough translation into English…

This weekend I was looking for some Chinese friends. So far, it has been hard to get in contact with Chinese students, so I’m happy that I found some friends now.

The ECCS office had arranged to give each German student the opportunity to get two Chinese language partners. This weekend I met both of my language partners who are both studying economics like me. They both are not from Beijing, one is from Shanxi province, the other one is from Hunan province. Although the language partner from Hunan spoke Putonghua I had some trouble understanding him because of his accent.

Yesterday I had gone to a party organized by students of Beida’s German faculty. The students spoke German really well, we talked a lot using both Chinese and German. Afterwards, a group of about 13 went to a KTV. I thing it we had a lot of fun and I’m happy to have met some students with a special interest in Germany.

Today I had lunch with a Korean girl a friend of her. I had met her when I was in Taiwan, now she is working in Beijing. Her Chinese is excellent, it sounds like she is speaking Chinese as a native tongue. Because the weather was really nice today, we took a walk to Tsinghua University after lunch.

So I found some friends to talk to in Chinese, I guess this will really help to improve my Chinese!

  3. Starting the China Journey: First stop at Xi’an « Beijing 2007 Says:

[…] Starting the China Journey: First stop at Xi’an After we got to Xi’an two days ago we have seen a lot of interesting places in the old town of Xi’an that has been capital of the old imperial China. When we were taking the night train here, we chose “hard sleeper”, in which is easy to get in touch with some Chinese. So we were told what to do in Xi’an, what places to go and what local special food is not to miss. We had a lot of Xi’an locals around us, so we got a lot of inside information. With one of our fellow travellers to Xi’an we even spent the evening later on. I think it is much easier to make some friends now, I still remember that this was quite hard in the beginning of my stay in China. […]
